THE DOUBLE RIP SWIM honours
The double Rip Swim is an extraordinary challenge. It involves swimming from Point Lonsdale to Point Nepean and back - close to 7km. swimmers need to be fit and have some speed and stay with one or two other swimmers.
Distance: Approximately 7km
Time: On our inaugural swim they ranged from 1 hour, 42 minutes to 3 hours and 23 minutes
These 29 brave swimmer were the first group of swimmers that we took across “The Rip” twice! The trip was meticulously planned to enable all swimmers to finish, by carefully selecting the right tide for the day. 1 other swimmer (number 30) completed the crossing as a solo swimmer in order to research the effect of the tides and ascertain the correct timing - (glad we did this!).
Congratulations to all swimmers who have achieved this very significant feat - crossing “The Rip” twice! Each swimmer has their time listed however it is NOT a race. (* denotes a swim with a wetsuit)
